The Chief Executive Officer of Invest Kedah Berhad, Mr. Muhamad Mahazi bin Haji Ibrahim was invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Becton, Dickson and Company (BD) factory.
The global medical technology company has invested RM300 million to expand its production plant in Kulim, Kedah to transfer its products from the United States to the state.
The new factory in the Kulim enterprise area will be expanded by 67 percent from 165,000 square feet to 275,000 square feet with the completion date for the facility in the area expected by the end of 2023, while the transfer of finished products will be completed within three years.
Currently, the existing factory which has been established since 1986 is able to accommodate more than 1,800 workers who manufacture the main products of urology equipment every year for the health care of patients around the world using 100 percent local workers in Kedah.
The ceremony was completed by the Chairman of the Industry and Investment, Science, Technology & Innovation and Higher Education Committee, Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abdul Rahman Ku Ismail.
