The 8th Teh Tarik Session, which took place at MIDA Sentral in Kuala Lumpur on 22 February 2023, received an overwhelming participation from various industry players and government agencies. Featuring the theme of “Investment Opportunities in Kedah Rubber City (KRC): A High-Impact National Strategic Project,” this session was organised by the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), in collaboration with the Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC), the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (MARGMA), and Invest Kedah Berhad. Presenting the Keynote speech was Guest of Honour YB Datoโ Wira Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail, Kedah Senior State Executive Council Member (Industries & Investment, Science, Technology & Innovation and Higher Education). Welcoming the invitees during the event was NCIA’s Chief Executive, Mr. Mohamad Haris Kader Sultan.
The session kicked off with Invest Kedah presenting an overview of Kedah as an ideal location for investors, and then zooming in to highlight KRCโs potential as a strategic investment destination for the rubber industry. This was followed by an overview of the rubber industry, the investment landscape, and the roles of MRC by Dr Nur Aainaa Syafini Mohd Radzi, Director, Commercialization and Investment of MRC. Speaking to the audience on the outlook of the global glove industry was Dr Supramaniam S. Shanmugam, President of MARGMA.
Wrapping up the session was NCIAโs Director Of Investment Division, Haji Fajaffri Mohd Fadzil where he explained the synergies between NCIA, MRC and MARGMA, the matured and holistic ecosystem of NCER, as well as the special investment incentives dedicated to the pioneering investors of KRC.
