The new investment in Kedah has marked this year as a significant milestone with the opening of the Techvance Industries Sdn Bhd. factory in Gurun, Kedah Darul Aman. The company has invested a capital expenditure (capex) of RM50 million in land, factory buildings, machinery, and infrastructure in the Gurun Industrial Area, Kedah, covering 11 acres with a total area of 150,000 square feet.

Currently, the factory operates with approximately 160 local staff and workers. The opening event of this factory was officiated by the Honourable Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abd Rahman Bin Ku Ismail, Senior Member of the Kedah State Government Meeting, Chairman of the Committee on Industry & Investment, Science, Technology & Innovation, and Higher Education in Kedah, witnessed by Mr. Noor Ikhsan bin Abd Aziz, Chief Operating Officer of Invest Kedah Berhad.

The top management of Techvance Industries Sdn. Bhd. was present at the event, including Dato’ Lau Foo Loy, Chairman of Techvance Group, Mr. Toh Tuan Sun, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Techvance Industries Sdn. Bhd., and Mr. Eugene Lau Han Wan, Executive Director of Techvance Industries Sdn. Bhd.

Invest Kedah Berhad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qew Group Berhad (QGB) during the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA – Langkawi), organized by Bina Darulaman Berhad (BDB).

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) serves as a document of cooperation agreement, where Invest Kedah Berhad will become a strategic investment partner to QGB in exploring investment opportunities, particularly in the state of Kedah.

QGB will also take steps to make its first investment in Langkawi by appointing Koperasi Komuniti Kepulauan Tuba dan Selat Berhad (KOPTUBAS) as a business partner in the development of the tourism sector in Pulau Tuba, Langkawi.

Invest Kedah Berhad was represented by a Board Member who is also the Chairman of Bina Darulaman Berhad (BDB), Tuan Haji Sr. Che Had bin Dhali, and Mr. Noor Ikhsan bin Abd Aziz, the Chief Executive Officer of Invest Kedah Berhad.

Qew Group Berhad (QGB) was represented by Dato’ Dr. Muhamad Iqbal Bin Mohamad, the Executive Chairman of Qew Group, and Dr. Mohammad Faiz bin Mohd Sobri, the Vice President of the Investment Department of Qew Group Berhad.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) session was witnessed by YB Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abd Rahman bin Ku Ismail, Senior Exco Member for Industries & Investment, Higher Education, Science, Technology & Innovation of Kedah State, who is also a Board Member of Invest Kedah Berhad.

Invest Kedah Berhad has been invited by Qew Group Berhad (QGB) to participate in an exhibition organized by Bina Darulaman Berhad (BDB) as a complement to the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA – Langkawi) which takes place on 23 – 27 May 2023.

The CEO of Invest Kedah Berhad, Mr. Muhamad Mahazi bin Haji, was invited to witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between EVE Energy Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (EVE) and Pemaju Kelang Lama Sdn. Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur.

Located in Kulim, Kedah, the manufacturing plant represents a significant investment of up to USD422.3 million. This facility will be the 53rd plant for EVE and will lead the development of the International Cylinder Battery Industrial Park in Malaysia. The plant will primarily focus on producing lithium-ion cylinder batteries for power tools and electric two-wheelers. Additionally, this project has the potential to generate 600 high-quality new job opportunities, further contributing to the local economy and job sector.

This MOU signing marks the progress of EVE’s project in Malaysia, which effectively meets the company’s need to expand its cylinder battery production capacity to support the production of electric two-wheelers and power tools, particularly in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

The 8th Teh Tarik Session, which took place at MIDA Sentral in Kuala Lumpur on 22 February 2023, received an overwhelming participation from various industry players and government agencies. Featuring the theme of “Investment Opportunities in Kedah Rubber City (KRC): A High-Impact National Strategic Project,” this session was organised by the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), in collaboration with the Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC), the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (MARGMA), and Invest Kedah Berhad. Presenting the Keynote speech was Guest of Honour YB Dato’ Wira Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail, Kedah Senior State Executive Council Member (Industries & Investment, Science, Technology & Innovation and Higher Education). Welcoming the invitees during the event was NCIA’s Chief Executive, Mr. Mohamad Haris Kader Sultan.

The session kicked off with Invest Kedah presenting an overview of Kedah as an ideal location for investors, and then zooming in to highlight KRC’s potential as a strategic investment destination for the rubber industry. This was followed by an overview of the rubber industry, the investment landscape, and the roles of MRC by Dr Nur Aainaa Syafini Mohd Radzi, Director, Commercialization and Investment of MRC. Speaking to the audience on the outlook of the global glove industry was Dr Supramaniam S. Shanmugam, President of MARGMA.

Wrapping up the session was NCIA’s Director Of Investment Division, Haji Fajaffri Mohd Fadzil where he explained the synergies between NCIA, MRC and MARGMA, the matured and holistic ecosystem of NCER, as well as the special investment incentives dedicated to the pioneering investors of KRC.

Invest Kedah Berhad has participated in the Langkawi Invest Day 2023 program: Unlocking Investment Opportunity for Sustainable Tourism held at Aloft Hotel, Pantai Tengah, Langkawi.

This program organized by the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) aims to attract and encourage investment in Langkawi, promote lands owned by LADA and the state government to potential investors and promote incentives under government agencies such as NCIA, Invest Kedah and MIDA to potential investors.

In addition, this program also aims to attract more high-quality investments to create more job opportunities in Langkawi and introduce the physical condition of the terrain of LADA-owned lands through site visits.

The program officiated by YB Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail, Senior Member of the Kedah State Government Meeting Council, Chairman of the Industry & Investment, Higher Education, Science, Technology & Innovation Committee was also attended by state and federal government agencies and prospective investors.

Invest Kedah Berhad has been invited to participate in the opening ceremony of Payer Industries Malaysia Sdn Bhd located in Bakar Arang Industrial Area, Sungai Petani, Kedah. Payer Malaysia is a subsidiary of Payer Group, the headquarters of Payer Group is located in Graz, Austria.

The opening ceremony of the factory was officiated by YB Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abdul Rahman Bin Ku Ismail (Chairman of the Kedah State Standing Committee on Industry & Investment, Science, Technology, & Innovation and Higher Education), with the Austrian Ambassador to Malaysia H.E Andreas Launer also present.

Invest Kedah Berhad in collaboration with the Kulim Industrial Tenants Association (KITA) has organized an Industry and Kedah State Agencies Work Session program to discuss the direction of the industry in Kulim located at The Light Hotel, Seberang Jaya, Pulau Pinang.

This program is a cross-Agency and sector collaboration program to discuss five areas namely Infrastructure, Human Resources, Logistics, Security and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) involving industrial areas in Kulim.
