COORDINATION MEETING FOR THE LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF THE E-COMMERCE HUB PHASE 1 PROJECT IN BUKIT KAYU HITAM, KUBANG PASU, KEDAH BY KT EXPRESS LOGISTICS SDN. BHD
Coordination Meeting for the Launching Ceremony of the E-Commerce Hub Phase 1 Project in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kubang Pasu, Kedah by KT Express Logistics Sdn. Bhd. was held today at the Invest Kedah Berhad office, Wisma Darul Aman, Alor Setar.
The meeting was chaired by the Chief Operating Officer of Invest Kedah Berhad, Mr. Noor Ikhsan bin Abd Aziz and was attended by a delegation from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department led by Dr. Mohd Afandi B. Md Amin, Head of the Customs Division, JKDM Kedah, Kubang Pasu Municipal Council (MPKP), and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
KT Express Logistics Sdn. Bhd. in collaboration with Invest Kedah Berhad has organized a Soft Launch of the E-Commerce Center & Memorandum of Agreement between KT Express Logistics Sdn. Bhd. and Invest Kedah Berhad dated 20 January 2022 ago.
The organization of this event is a sign of commitment by KT Express Logistics Sdn. Bhd. in developing an e-commerce hub that conducts import and export activities of goods by road through the Malaysia-Thailand Border Gate in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kubang Pasu, Kedah in 3 phases of development.
The ceremony was also attended and witnessed by Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Haji Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Menteri Besar of Kedah.

DISCUSSION SESSION WITH INTEL MALAYSIA IN KULIM HI-TECH PARK, KULIM, KEDAH
Invest Kedah Berhad represented by the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Noor Ikhsan bin Abdul Aziz and General Manager (Operations), Mr. Abdul Mu’ti bin Abdul Hamid participated in a discussion session with Intel Malaysia at its office in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kulim, Kedah.
A delegation from the State Government led by YB Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail, Chairman of the Kedah Industry & Investment, Science Technology & Innovation and Higher Education Committee, received a briefing on Intel Malaysia’s operations as well as held a bilateral session on investment potential specifically in Kedah.
The delegation was also joined by officers from PBT Hi-Tech Kulim and Kedah State Economic Planning Division (BPEN).
Intel Corporation, which is also one of the world’s largest chip makers, will invest more than RM30 billion over the next 10 years to expand its operations in Penang and Kulim, Kedah.
Patrick Gelsinger, Chief Executive Officer of Intel Corporation was saying at a press conference announcing the new investment in December, the additional investment in the country also involved the expansion of existing manufacturing assembly test facilities as well as developing die prep procedures or pre -assembly processes with the addition of more advanced packaging capabilities.
The company also plans to have new facilities in the country to enable it to increase production volumes as well as improve its position in the technology transfer and capacity building value chain.

COURTESY VISIT ON INVEST KEDAH BERHAD FROM AUSTRIA TECHNOLOGIE & SYSTEMTECHNIK (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. (AT&S)
Ms. Ruth Foo, Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager from Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (AT&S) paid a courtesy visit on Invest Kedah Berhad at the Invest Kedah Berhad office, Wisma Darul Aman, Alor Setar.
AT&S, the global leading manufacturer of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and integrated circuit substrates (ICs) based in Austria chose Malaysia as its first production plant location in Southeast Asia.
The new AT&S production facility at Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP), Kedah, which produces high-tech PCBs and IC substrates, is expected to involve an investment of RM8.5 billion and create 5,000 high-tech and high-impact jobs.
Construction of the production plant is expected to begin in the second half of this year with the expected commercial operation in 2024.
It is hoped that this courtesy visit flourishingly established a relationship between two parties to ensure that investment development in Kedah can run smoothly.

BRIEFING SESSION ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE E10 PROGRAM FROM THE KULIM MUNICIPAL COUNCIL (MPKK) LOCATED AT WISMA DARUL AMAN, ALOR SETAR, KEDAH
Invest Kedah Berhad participated in a Briefing Session on the Implementation of the E10 Program from the Kulim Municipal Council (MPKK) located at Wisma Darul Aman, Alor Setar, Kedah. The briefing was chaired by Mr. Muhamad Mahazi bin Haji Ibrahim, Director of the Kedah State Economic Planning Division (BPEN) cum as Chief Executive Officer of Invest Kedah Berhad.
The E10 initiative is a new express construction permit initiative and is offered by the local authority of the Kulim Kedah Municipal Council (MPKK). In formulating and developing this initiative, the Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) Northern Region has helped provide advisory services and conduct engagement activities with the Kulim Municipal Council, industry players and technical agencies to ensure that what is designed is practical and can be implemented based on existing regulations.
This initiative makes Kedah the state of choice for investors who have advantages and potential as a major investment destination in Malaysia. The results of today’s implementation saw the success of ASPEN Glove’s factory which was able to operate and obtain a certificate of completion and compliance (CCC) as well as a business license within 10 months.

PRESENTATION AT THE MALAYSIAN DIGITAL INVESTMENT PROMOTION SUMMIT ORGANIZED BY THE MALAYSIA DIGITAL ECONOMY CORPORATION (MDEC) IN PUTRAJAYA
The Chief Executive Officer of Invest Kedah Berhad, Mr. Muhamad Mahazi bin Haji Ibrahim was invited to give a presentation at the Malaysian Digital Investment Promotion Summit organized by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in Putrajaya.
The main purpose of this summit is to seek enlightenment on the aspirations and value propositions of Investment Agencies at the state level (IPA), strengthen strategies to attract digital investment in Malaysia (One Nation Approach) and create cooperation mechanisms to position Malaysia as a Digital Hub in ASEAN.
Invest Kedah Berhad which was also joined by the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Noor Ikhsan bin Abd Aziz also had the opportunity to share on the promotion sector and digital economic aspirations, incentives for investors as well as the latest marketing plans including local & international events and trade mission planning.

The Chief Executive Officer of Invest Kedah Berhad, Mr. Muhamad Mahazi bin Haji Ibrahim was invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Becton, Dickson and Company (BD) factory.
The global medical technology company has invested RM300 million to expand its production plant in Kulim, Kedah to transfer its products from the United States to the state.
The new factory in the Kulim enterprise area will be expanded by 67 percent from 165,000 square feet to 275,000 square feet with the completion date for the facility in the area expected by the end of 2023, while the transfer of finished products will be completed within three years.
Currently, the existing factory which has been established since 1986 is able to accommodate more than 1,800 workers who manufacture the main products of urology equipment every year for the health care of patients around the world using 100 percent local workers in Kedah.
The ceremony was completed by the Chairman of the Industry and Investment, Science, Technology & Innovation and Higher Education Committee, Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abdul Rahman Ku Ismail.

Ferrotec Holdings Corporation has announced the development of a new manufacturing facility at Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah.
The plant, which will undertaking electromechanical assembly and advanced material fabrication for semiconductor equipment is designed to meet customer needs while also expanding the Groupโs business globally.
This factory is expected to start operating in 2023. With a total investment expected to exceed RM500 million with a facility area of over 80,000 square feet.
The project is expected to create about 250 high-value jobs for Malaysians with the company having committed to providing training to Malaysian workers at factories in Japan and the United States.

In his welcome address, Encik Tahiruddin Hamdan called for industries impacted by COVID-19 outbreak to take precautionary steps to ensure that there would not be any shortage of goods for production. Local manufacturing companies who are depending on importation of intermediate goods from China might need to find other alternative sources, i.e. from other Asian countries like Japan, South Korea, India or even ASEAN countries.
